Với niềm tiếc thương vô hạn, chúng tôi vô cùng đau buồn thông báo rằng Giáo sư Tanel Kerikmäe, Giám đốc Viện Luật – Đại học Công nghệ Tallinn, Giáo sư Luật Chính sách Châu Âu và Công nghệ, Giáo sư danh dự của Trường Đại học Luật TP. Hồ Chí Minh, mđã đột ngột qua đời tháng 8 năm 2025.
Giáo sư Tanel Kerikmäe sinh ngày 15 tháng 8 năm 1969 tại Tartu, Estonia. Đương thời ông là một học giả đổi mới, tư duy rộng mở và luôn hướng đến tương lai. Ông đã để lại nhiều dấu ấn trong nghiên cứu về pháp luật châu Âu, quản trị số và pháp luật điều chỉnh trí tuệ nhân tạo.
Thông qua sự ủng hộ của giáo sư Tanel Kerikmae, nhiều giảng viên của Khoa đã được học tập, nghiên cứu, giảng dạy tại Estonia, Thụy Sĩ trong khuôn khổ các dự án của Liên Minh châu Âu. Ông cũng đã tham gia giảng dạy sau đại học, hướng dẫn nghiên cứu sinh và đồng hành cùng các hoạt động học thuật tại Trường Đại học Luật TP. Hồ Chí Minh từ năm 2017. Năm 2019, ông được Trường Đại học Luật TP. Hồ Chí Minh trân trọng phong tặng ông học vị Giáo sư danh dự, ghi nhận những đóng góp bền bỉ và chân thành của ông đối với sự phát triển học thuật và quan hệ hợp tác quốc tế của nhà trường.
Chúng tôi sẽ luôn nhớ về ông một nhà khoa học, một nhà cải cách giáo dục chân chính. Hình ảnh của ông sẽ luôn hiện diện trong trái tim đồng nghiệp và học trò tại Khoa Luật quốc tế Trường Đại học luật Tp. Hồ Chí Minh.

With deep sorrow and heartfelt respect, we are profoundly saddened to announce that Professor Tanel Kerikmäe, Director of the Law Institute at Tallinn University of Technology, Professor of European Legal Policy and Technology Law, and Honorary Professor of Ho Chi Minh City University of Law, passed away unexpectedly in early days of August 2025.
Professor Kerikmäe was born on 15 August 1969 in Tartu, Estonia. He was widely recognized as an innovative and visionary scholar with a forward-looking mindset and an open, inclusive academic spirit. His scholarly legacy left a profound impact in the fields of European legal studies, digital governance, and the legal regulation of artificial intelligence.
Thanks to his strong and sustained support, numerous lecturers from our Faculty had the opportunity to study, conduct research, and teach in Estonia and Switzerland under various projects funded by the European Union. Since 2017, Professor Kerikmäe had also actively contributed to postgraduate teaching, doctoral supervision, and collaborative academic initiatives at Ho Chi Minh City University of Law.
In 2019, in recognition of his sincere and enduring contributions to the university’s academic development and international partnerships, he was awarded the title of Honorary Professor by Ho Chi Minh City University of Law.
We will always remember him not only as an outstanding scholar but also as a true reformer in legal education. His image and spirit will forever remain in the hearts of his colleagues and students at the Faculty of International Law, Ho Chi Minh City University of Law.
